Highlights for Atl Madrid vs Chelsea

Analysis for Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich

Real Madrid
  • Improvement under Ancelotti
    • The team had improved tremendously under Ancelotti as compared to last season. Just look at how the team plays, especially Gareth Bale whom scored a spectacular goal in the Spanish Cup against Barcelona. This Real Madrid will prove plenty pundits wrong this time round.
  • Hunger 10th CL cup
    • This current team have the hunger to go far and strive for the best. Winning the 10th CL cup would be the target for Real Madrid, considering they are now a little bit off the top of Spanish La Liga. Winning the Champions League would be the most realistic target for them right now.
  • Almost full squad
    • Real Madrid might be without Cristiano Ronaldo due to a flu. But I feel this game is too important for him to be out. He would be the key factor to Real Madrid winning this leg.

Bayern Munich
  • Over zealous Robben
    • As we know, Robben is a downright selfish player going for personal glory. So I believe he would be hogging onto the ball and going for shots even it is an impossible angle. Real Madrid defenders are no pushover, they would block out all shots from him and not give him space.
  • Lousy defence
    • Bayern Munich's defence are somewhat ok, but not top quality as compared to Real Madrid's. Looking at previous games, Manchester Utd managed to score 1 goal each leg in the quarter finals. Dortmund managed to win 0-3 at Bayern Munich's home, tearing their defence apart.
    • They are particularly weak against high balls, as seen in Man Utd vs Bayern Munich tie. So expect them to leak goals in this leg.

My pick: Real Madrid -0.25

Analysis for Atl Madrid vs Chelsea

Atl Madrid

No English team won before
Not a single English team has won at Atletico Madrid homeground. Atletico Madrid are having a strong form this season and currently leading the Spanish La Liga table. They would give in their best to proceed to the Champions League finals.

Full squad available
Diego Costa would be involved, so is Courtois. The keeper is given the green light to play against his club. Having won against Barcelona in the quarter finals, morale of the team would be high and they would not be taking things for granted.

Chelsea

No proper striker
Samuel Eto was left behind in England due to a knee injury. This means that the forward would either be Fernando Torres or Demba Ba. The chances of them scoring is somewhat low. Chelsea might even go for a full defensive play and end the tie during the second leg. Therefore do not expect a lot of goals from this game.

My pick: Chelsea +0.5

Analysis for Man City vs West Brom

Man City

Missing key players
David Silva, Jesus Navas and Yaya Toure would be out with an ankle injury. Man city strive on the assists of Silva and the steel enforcement of Yaya Toure. Without the penetrative passes from Silva, there would be a lack of creativity play from Man City and most likely their gameplay would be to cross in from the wings. Without Yaya Toure, they would be very vulnerable in the midfield.

Once bitten, twice shy
Having drawn with Sunderland during the mid week, Pellegrini would ensure that the same mistake does not happen. But lack of key players would be a trouble for Man City.

Catch up with league leaders
Currently at 3rd place, 71 points and 2 games in hand. This game is a must win for Man City in order to stay in the title race.

West Brom

Fighting relegation
Currently at 16th place, 3 points clear of relegation zone. West Brom would go all out for this game. Do not be surprised if West Brom manages to score.

Missing key players
Jonas Olsson and James Morrison are doubtful. Scott Sinclair unable to play

Recent form
West Brom are having a good run. Having 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in their last five games. Even though they might not win this game, the scoreline should be rather close.

My Pick: West Brom +1.5
